Children In Need 2008

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Children In Need day.

This was a brilliant fun day in school. All the children were invited to choose their own clothes for the day and make a donation to this very worthwhile cause and we took the opportunity to discuss with the children ways in which we can help other less fortunate children.

Activities on the day included badge making, Pudsey bear biscuits, Pudsey head bands and the children in nursery had fun in fancy dress!!

When we added up the total amount we were amazed to find we had raised £325! Well done everyone – what a fantastic effort!!

Healthy Living Week 2008

Our Healthy Living Week was again a great success. The children (and staff) really enjoyed a fantastic range of   activities including ‘Circus Skills’, Tai Chi, Tennis, Tae Kwondo, Skipping, Healthy Living workshops, Yoga and Multi Skills.  They developed their physical skills and also their knowledge about healthy lifestyles  .£1031.18 was raised and this money will be used to support the Christmas events and also to help us with the purchase of new books for the classroom book boxes.

The children participated in the week very enthusiastically and I am really pleased that many of them are now talking very knowledgably about how to keep healthy.

Jacki Greenwood, Claire Griffiths and Natalie Howe have put a lot of information, photographs and video clips on to the Life Channel that is running on the screen in the hall if you would like to see the children enjoying and benefiting from the activities

Thank you for supporting our recent sponsored skipping event which took place during Healthy Living Week.

National Healthy Schools Award

At the beginning of July 2007 we were very proud to receive the newly revised National Healthy Schools Award. The school has been working towards this standard for 2 years and the presentation at the Mansion House went very well, we were very proud of the children who were a great credit to us.  The standard required us to provide evidence that we are encouraging children to eat healthily, become physically fit and are providing opportunities to effectively support their personal, social and emotional development

Of course the award is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the whole school community.

We shall continue to promote a healthy lifestyle and the project will continue to be a priority in school.
